Are you worried about your child? - Useful Contact Information

At CGS we take the welfare and safety of our students extremely seriously.  We are very aware of the increase in issues around Child Mental Health and, in particular, anxiety among the young people we serve. Being anxious about things is a natural emotion and is something that we all suffer from to various degrees and all children can develop their own ways of dealing with it. Rarely, anxiety may be severe enough for your child to miss school, but if your child is anxious about school or suffering from other mental health related issues, there are many ways in which we can support you.

These situations are often best ‘nipped in the bud’ and so an early call to school when these concerns develop may help us to resolve the situation more quickly.

It is worth clarifying that none of the people working in school are able to diagnose mental health issues and if you have serious concerns about your child, then proper medical referral would always be recommended through your GP.

All of our students are able to have access to our free and confidential counselling service.  The school counsellor, Kate Wildey, is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Pschotherapy (BACP) and is an integral part of our pastoral system helping to support our students with their mental health and wellbeing.  If your child would like to speak to the school counsellor, then they can self-refer themselves to the service by emailing schoolcounsellor@cheshamgrammar.org or speak to any member of school staff.
