Library

Chesham Grammar School Library is a welcoming and comfortable space and is a resource available to the whole school.

Opening times are from 08.45 to 16.00 during the school term.

During lesson periods the Library is available to the sixth form for private study independent research, and for teachers to bring classes or groups to for research material.  During break and lunchtime the library is open to the whole school.  There are nearly 10,000 books, both fiction and non-fiction which support the taught curriculum, independent reading and reading for pleasure.  There are eighteen computers which are bookable in 20-minute slots at break and lunchtime for homework and there are printing, scanning and photocopying facilities.  Daily newspapers, periodicals and a growing collection of audio books and DVDs are also available.  Through the Library, Chesham Grammar School subscribes to specialist databases including JSTOR.

The students can request new titles and the Library stock is regularly refreshed.  The Library is also linked with the county’s Schools Library Service which gives students and staff access to library resources thorough out south-east England including the British Library.

Throughout the year we are involved in many activities including World Book Day, National Poetry Day and running an annual Scholastic book fair.
