Online Safety
Technology and the internet play a large part in modern life for all of us, and we are aware that while young people can benefit significantly from using it to connect with others, pursue their interests and support their learning, it is also really important that students do this safely. There are lots of websites and resources available with information about online safety and we have collated this information in order to help signpost parents and carers to the most relevant and helpful content.
The following websites provide a broad range of guidance for parents and carers on a range of different issues:
- Thinkuknow is the education programme from NCA-CEOP, a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline. https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/
- NetAware is a website produced by 02 and the NSPCC and has a wide range of information, with guidance and advice about all the most popular apps used by young people. https://www.net-aware.org.uk/
- The Police Digital Security Centre also provides safeguarding and security guidance about how the risks associated with common apps, and also how to set up parental controls. https://www.policedsc.com/security-advice/safeguarding
