Dear Parent,
At the end of another very busy half term, the staff and students are ready for a break and the chance to recharge before the start of next half term, none more so that those who have been involved in our production of School of Rock this week. This was a triumph! The energy of the students was infectious and I watched with a huge sense of pride, enjoying their talent and commitment but above all, their obvious enjoyment. I know that with two casts to rehearse, this has been quite an undertaking for staff and students and I offer everyone involved my congratulations and my thanks. Those on stage were superb but equally impressive was the band and those involved in the lighting, sound and backstage crew. The final performance is this evening. If you are going tonight, I know you will have a most enjoyable time.
Today, I was delighted to welcome back Raffi who left CGS last year. Raffi is an elite fencer and at present is a possible for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has recently won an individual bronze medal at the European Cadet Cup in Warsaw and is about to compete in the European Championships in Croatia followed by the World Championships in Salt Lake City in April. We wish him success.
Many congratulations to Becca in Year 10 who has been selected for the Bucks County cricket team and to Jess in Year 9 who has been selected to play for the Bucks U15 rugby team. Well done! We are equally proud of Amelia in Year 9 who has been invited to take part in the FA women's U14 National Talent Camp at Warwick University this weekend. This forms part of the Lioness Talent Pathway and is a superb opportunity. Congratulations!
Happy 12th birthday to Seb, Edward, Eloise, Orla and Olivia in Year 7 with whom I met this week for birthday tea.
I received a message this week from the County Council asking that we remind all parents to park considerately and safely at school drop-off and pick-up time. There was an incident outside a Bucks school last week where the Fire Brigade was delayed reaching a burning vehicle because parents picking up their children from the school had double parked. Please do take care at all times around the school site.
A huge amount has taken place in and out of the classroom this half term. To round off the half term, this morning, the Year 13 art and photography visit departed for Venice and Year 10 Computing students went off to Bletchley Park. Our staff, who make all of this possible, are dedicated, committed and passionate and I know you will wish to join me in thanking them for all their hard work this half term.
I hope that your children have an enjoyable half term.
