Chesham Grammar School is outstanding!
Chesham Grammar School was inspected by Ofsted in early March 2025. The report has just been published and staff, students, parents and trustees are delighted with the outcome. The school has been graded ‘outstanding’ in all areas. The school was last inspected by Ofsted in 2014, when it was also graded ‘outstanding’.
In order to receive an outstanding Ofsted judgement, provision in each area must be ‘exceptional.’ The Ofsted report describes Chesham Grammar School as a school which "ensures that all pupils flourish academically and personally”. Its ethos is captured as “exceptionally happy and welcoming” with “strong and positive relationships” lying “at the heart of the school’s culture…pupils naturally demonstrate a deep respect for staff and each other and behaviour is excellent”. The report comments on the school’s “impressive results in public examinations” and on its “broad and balanced curriculum” alongside a “very wide ranging extra-curricular offer and pupil leadership opportunities.” The report concludes by saying “staff, parents and pupils typically describe the school as a wonderful community".
Headteacher Annmarie McNaney said, “…I am very proud of staff, students and parents, all of whom have demonstrated what we know to be true about Chesham Grammar – that our students make excellent progress and achieve highly and, above all, enjoy school and are happy. I am delighted that the inspection team identified our Sixth Form students as ‘remarkable role models’ who are ‘custodians of the school’s values’ as well as the work we do to develop character and prepare students ‘exceptionally well’ for life.
Head students Adam and Orlaith were happy to be part of the student panel interviewed by the Ofsted inspectors. “It was a great opportunity to share what we love and value about CGS, just before we leave after seven very happy and successful years."
