Success in the U19s Boys' Table Tennis

Chesham Grammar School's under-19 boys' team put up a brave fight at Sunday's South of England regional final for the National Schools Team Championship in Bristol. Finishing a respectable third in a fiercely competitive event.

Pranav, Matt, Elliot and Zach, who won their zone final last month, finished on a high by winning their last match but defeats in their opening two fixtures meant they could not qualify for April's national final.

Chesham suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat in their opener against London's University College School in the cavernous hall at the Bristol Academy of Sport.

Matt was the lone winner during a tough fixture, although three of the contests went to five games.

The match against King Edward VI Grammar School, from Chelmsford in Essex, was much closer, with Pranav, Elliot and Zach notching wins in a 5-3 defeat.

Chesham recovered strongly to hammer Highcliffe School, from Dorset, 6-2 in their final match but it was not enough, with University College progressing to the final.

We would like to thank Table Tennis England for organising such an enjoyable event.

Plus, thanks to the team, especially Frankie, at Community Impact Bucks and the team at Leap for their continued support for our Table Tennis Centre.
