GCSE Results Day
Staff and students at Chesham Grammar School are celebrating a superb set of GCSE results this today. This is the second cohort of students who have sat the new, more challenging GCSEs and they have risen to that challenge! Just under 70% of entries were graded 9-7 with almost half at 8 or 9. Headteacher Annmarie McNaney said, "I am absolutely delighted for our students and am very proud of them. They and their teachers have worked incredibly hard over the last two years, rising to the challenge of the new, more difficult GCSEs and achieving some of the best GCSE results we have ever had. I couldn't be happier for them."
Amongst the excellent results are some outstanding individual achievements. A number of students achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s in all 10 GCSE subjects with Roisin Kelly also gaining an A* in Additional Maths. Alice Charter and Jessica Merrett also passed all 10 GCSEs at grade 9. More than a quarter of students achieved grades 9-7 in every single subject and over three quarters secured at least 5 grades at 7 or better. 17 students gained 7 or more grade 9s; fewer than 1,000 students nationally achieved this last year. Annmarie McNaney said, "These results are outstanding and there are lots of very happy students, parents and teachers here this morning. Many congratulations to everyone. Education is about so much more than examination results and we are very proud of our young men and women who have also achieved much during their five years at CGS in other ways. They are now well placed for the next stage of their education. We wish them all the very best."
