CGS Students Take Part in House of Lords Youth Engagement Programme

Twelve students from Years 12 and 13 at CGS were invited to the House of Lords to take part in the prestigious Youth Engagement Programme — one of only six schools nationwide selected for this opportunity.

In preparation for the event, participating students, along with a wider group of Year 11 pupils, investigated the UK’s drought crisis and developed innovative proposals to address the issue. These ideas were then presented by the attending students as evidence to the Lords Environment Committee.

During the visit, students also had the chance to speak directly with committee members and gain insight into their vital work within Parliament. Their contributions will help shape the committee’s final report, which will be submitted to the government for formal response.

It was an inspiring and memorable day, made all the more rewarding by the organisers’ praise for how “bright, responsive and thoughtful” our students were.
