Nathan Law inspires our Sixth Formers
We were very honoured to welcome Nathan Law, founder of Civic Square, a charitable initiative dedicated to democracy education, to CGS to speak to our Year 12 and 13 students. Nathan has an impressive background; elected as the youngest legislator in Hong Kong, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and widely regarded as a leading voice on international democracy.
Nathan shared his experiences as a pro-democracy activist and talked to them about the realities of losing freedoms and the importance of safeguarding our democracy. His talk was insightful and thought provoking, encouraging students to consider the challenges facing democratic principles in today’s world.
Students described Nathan as an engaging and compelling speaker. They asked thoughtful, empathetic questions that reflected a strong awareness of global issues and civic responsibility.
