Pitch to Play On

The new pitch will be a fantastic addition to our facilities at CGS.  I am passionate about creating an environment in which everyone can enjoy, achieve and belong and I believe that this pitch will transform the experiences of every single student in the school.”  Annmarie McNaney, Headteacher

Artists pitch

Beyond the immeasurable impact of outdoor activity on the physical health and well-being of children and the benefit to their learning, our new multi-use artificial pitch will double the amount of space for active play, PE lessons, clubs and sport. A modern facility with efficient LED lighting will be an all-weather, year-round outdoor classroom on which all our students will learn and play.  Please find further information here.

Physical activity supports better health and wellbeing among young people, which in turn means they are more likely to achieve better academically.” Youth Sport Trust 2022

The new pitch will greatly increase participation in sport and enjoyment of physical activity, based on feedback from our current students. In addition to break times, it will be used daily for PE lessons, lunch and after school clubs, and offer space for football, hockey, netball, tennis and tag rugby.

Girls Football

The implementation of a new pitch will further develop our ‘Sport for All’ philosophy at CGS.” Andrew Sharpe, Director of PE & Sport
