'This Girl Can' at Chesham Grammar School
Girls' sport at CGS is making the headlines, with both individual awards and team trophies starting to pile up in the school trophy cabinet.
This academic year the girls have had success in football, netball, hockey, gymnastics and table tennis, with more to come.
The national 'This Girl Can' initiative to encourage more girls to take part in sport has seen record numbers of female pupils representing the school in sport, and the great results are beginning to show.
Building on recent success in girls' football, CGS has reached the semi-finals of the Bucks County Cup in the U13, U15 and U16 competitions, and now hopes to complete the first ever clean sweep of trophies in the competition's history following the cup semi-finals and finals that will be played over the next couple of weeks.
In District netball the CGS girls have taken league titles in the U12B, U13A and U14B competitions, where they faced tough opposition from local schools.
The hockey and gymnastics squads have also shared the limelight with great success in local competitions and an eye on the upcoming district tournaments. Alice Ray and Alice Thompson, both in Year 7, are the current county champions for table tennis and recently represented Bucks in the zonal tournament in Birmingham.
Subject Leader for Girls' PE, Charlotte Coleman, said, "Since joining CGS in September I have been very impressed with the number of girls who love taking part in recreational sport, and also the girls who have gone that step further and competed at the highest level against local schools and further afield.
I hope all these successes will reward the girls for their dedication and commitment to training and matches this year. The culture of giving everything a go is one which I am really keen to encourage at CGS and I'm delighted to see how the students have supported the extensive extra-curricular programme we offer."
