Senior Citizens' Christmas Party

CGS hosted just under 120 senior citizens at a Christmas party in the School Hall on Saturday 10th December - the eldest of whom was 102!.

The visitors were very appreciative of the festivities which included the Flute choir, Men's Choir and a short Christmas play, all of which were led by our students.

Parents very generously donated the gifts, including boxes of biscuits, choclates and a myriad of wonderful raffle prizes, ranging from beautiful scarves, wonderful 'smellies' to bottles of whisky and socks!

We were incredibly well supported by our local community and a huge thanks goes out to the following companies:

  • The Christmas Tree Farm
  • The Garnett Foundation
  • The Lions Club
  • Gilberts Taxis
  • Wheatleys of Amersham
  • Fastbreak
  • Café Nero
  • Sainsbury
  • Darvells
  • Wheelhouse Vets
  • Paradigm Foundation
  • Chartridge Park Gold Club
  • Motts Coaches
  • Dial A Ride
  • Alliance in Partnership
  • The Mayor of Chesham
  • Tesco

Nearly one hundred of our students gave up their Saturday to set up, decorate tables, cook the food, make sandwiches, man the bar and act as waiters and waitresses, not to mention play instruments, take part in the play and clear up at the end.

Our Head Boy, Alex Smith and Head Girl, Steph Weston hosted the raffle and every guest went home with a box of biscuits/chocolates, a raffle prize and a specially baked individual Christmas cake made by our students under the supervision of Mrs Rees, our Subject Leader for Food Technology.

We can safely say, we all had a wonderful day and look forward to hosting it again next year!
